Most drivers know that their cars need oil changes every so often. However, many of our customers still have quite a few questions when it comes to their car maintenance—and oil changes in particular. To help clear the air, let our crew here at Auto Specialty of Lafayette, Inc., answer a few of the most common questions we hear.
Your car is a machine. In order to keep everything moving properly and smoothly, it needs oil. However, the longer that oil is used, the thicker and dirtier it becomes. In order for your car to work its best, that old oil needs to be replaced with newer, cleaner oil that can keep everything functioning properly.
The short answer is every 3,000 to 5,000 miles. However, we encourage our customers to read their owner’s manual to see what your car’s manufacturer recommends. Each make and model is a bit different, so we always default to your car’s specific recommendations.
Sure! An oil change is one of those car maintenance items that many car owners choose to do themselves. We don’t blame you! You can save quite a bit of money doing so. (Plus, we think it’s pretty fun.) However, if you want to make sure it’s done right and you don’t want to deal with the mess or time spent, then just bring it on over to our mechanics. We’ll take care of it for you.
Do you have more questions about oil changes, or are you ready to schedule your next appointment? Contact our team at Auto Specialty by calling (765) 477-7300. We’d be glad to answer your questions and schedule your car’s next oil change. Our shop is conveniently located for anyone in the greater Lafayette, IN, area.
